The Royal Cape and Walvis Bay Yacht Club under the auspice of SA Sailing and the Namibian Sailing Association respectively are proud to announce the second Macs Shipping Southern Star Race from Cape Town to Walvis Bay.

For quite some time sailors of RCYC and WBYC envisaged this race, but transporting the boats back to Cape Town was a hurdle that could not be overcome. Racing up to Walvis Bay can take some mere 4 to 5 days. The real problem from the organization is overcoming the 2 to 3 week journey back to Cape Town. With great pleasure we announce that the RCYC under the leadership of the world famous South African Sailor, John Martin, has secured a fantastic sponsorship from MACS shipping line.

MACS shipping line has made it possible to transport competing boats back to Cape Town. Only due to this grandiose support this race is possible.

The Race will start on 10 March, 1200 hours in the Bay of Cape Town. It is estimated that the first boats will arrive in Walvis Bay as early as Thursday morning 13 Marchl.
